Recap: Previously our heroes had been shipwrecked on the coast of Aln. Ulrich and Corasrov captured by Kua Toa, Greg taken to the hidden metal entrance from his dreams and Potato rushing into the thick undergrowth after Leek. The Dire wolf rescued, the Wizard retrieving his memories from the Illithids and a daring prison escape by way of impersonating a deity, the group made their way to the Spider Queen’s hold with the help of Anders Blackstain an old acquaintance of Crorasrov Greytear. There was also some torture. The less said about that the better. Sneaking into the Black Spider Hold by way of the Myconid delivery cart our heroes bested Yochlol demons, Duergar Lords and the Spider Queen herself in her own backyard rescuing her Daughter in the process. A resounding success on the Jungle continent of Aln, however on portaling back to The Overlook, something was amiss...
As the first of our heroes stepped out of the portal they saw The Overlook on fire, the resistance rush around fighting off skeletal warriors. The Brass Dragon Braxinol flew overhead towards a gargantuan skeletal dragon. It was clear he was outmatched. By the time the last member of the Metropolitan Liberal Elite are back at The Overlook, Braxinol fell, crashing into one of the overlooks towers. During the fight Krusk defended some children, our heroes let Inquisitor Lord Thrall free to assist. Later they bargained with him to run interference on Benedict, time will tell if this will pay off. Eventually through use of a mysterious potion our heroes drove off the Skeletal dragon and ended the invasion. Braxxinol’s explained in his dying breath that not only Necromacer but a Lich Lord was trying to take the Overlook back and that he was in Duskwood pleading that the group defeat him in order that the the Dragon Council will have to hear our heroes case for war against Benedict”. Ebshan Maldir explained that they had Taken the Princess, Hayden Glick and Tybalt Finsbury. and provided an invitation that was left the skeletons remains. “If you are reading this you have survived and are truly worthy of my invitation. I cannot wait to meet you in the flesh - Lord Xaethir” Ebshan was clear: “We are so close to the endgame - Get to Duskwood. Get our Queen back. I will rally the Generals of the armies you have gathered so that when you return we can begin planning the assault. Our heroes headed to Duskwood. In the distance they saw a banner. As it got closer it reads “MLE Museum - Grand Opening”. A hooded figure stood waiting; Galax Holder, the necromuncher who fled the overlook after our heroes claimed it. “Lord Xaethir, waits for you, it is poor form that you have kept him waiting. He has been amused by your antics for several seasons now. He has documented them. Collected. Some might say obsessed. Always watching. Follow the path. He wishes to show you how closely he has been watching” Holder pointed to 3 trails of bloody footprints that headed into the woods. one east, south east and south. Making their way through the bizarre Museum our heroes realized they were coming upon previous acquaintances. The first involved a goblin tribe they once refused to help with familiar cards nailed to their heads and a note: "Too slow to save his legs they were, what once was mine was given by her”. It was the Hag's hut. She was nowhere to be seen but her children were. They were no longer with the living. Neither was Eugene pike or Donald Cornwallis. Another note (“Cart you stole. Swine burnt whole") led to a reanimated Farmer and Monstrous Squeely Nord encounter. Yet another (“The enemy within was slain? The spy remains, now guess again!”) involved making a choice between Lord Tybalt Finsbury & Hayden Glick who were trapped in a mechanical trap. They avoided an undead trio of an Owlbear, Ulrich’s father and the tortured drow guard (“Beasts and foe and family were slain. Death is eternal? Guess again!”) and made their way into the Lichj Lords throne room via a puzzle (“Only the dead may enter”) The Metropolitan Liberal Elite stood in front of the mad Lich Lord Zaethir. "I have no real quarrel with you, I am much more interested in the dragons. Im sure you have seen some of my experiments…I know something you do not. Benedict is not who he says he is. Benedict has been dead for several decades and his corpse is here beside me. The ancient Red Dragon Karn has taken on his form. He has plotted against the humans since his defeat by King Edwin. Summon the dragons here using the item you possess and I will aid you in the battle soon to come against Benedict. The other option is you die and join me anyway. You have until the sand runs dry to decide..." Mulling it over our heroes decided to summon the Dragon but not to join Lord Xaeth. defeat him.
