"Recap: After wrapping up their deal with the Green Hag, meeting with Princess Kaitlin and the resistance; our party almost meet their demise, barely taking back “The Overlook” from the Necromancer known as Galkax Holder. With just Corashov and Leek still standing the Brass Dragon they released from the Necromancers prison brings them back to the resistance under cover of darkness.
What interesting company our heroes are beginning to keep... As the others are recovering, deep in the sewers of the Crossroads two beggars, both with eye symbol medallions agree to allow Corasov Greytear through a large wooden door also emblazoned with the same symbol. They remind him that "The Beggar King" has eyes everywhere before blindfolding him: “Whatever you do, do not take it off”. After a brief exchange Corasov agrees to end the life of Spymaster Brana, in return the Beggar King will sow discontent across various towns and villages. "Ah Gregory, how have you been? How is my favorite mortal? I’m thinking perhaps we got off on the wrong foot. Allow me to reintroduce my self, I am Lamoram of the second layer of the 9 hells, Dis. I serve its lord Dispater" Having picked the Flame card from the deck of many things (naughty, naughty) Greg is now bound to a devil who has negotiated a deal between the two. The Devil explains "My time on the mortal plane is somewhat limited yet I have so much to achieve. So many souls, so little time. I could let you work off your soul debt to me in exchange for many other delicious souls. In return I can offer powerful boons. I will also need to...borrow you from time to time. You could call it possession, I think of it more like lending me your existence momentarily. I also seek a book, I understand you are potentially going to meet the Archdruid Ascadian. He is head of the Loremaster order and has one of the most impressive libraries in the multiverse. I seek the book of portals. Bring it to me" Greg agrees and before he leaves Lamoram utters something slightly odd "I’m sure you will remember, you always do.” Once the remaining members of the party recovered Braxanol, the Brass dragon that they had released from the Necromancer's lair hands them each a gem in gratitude: "I said I owed you a favour and I will keep true to my word mortals. Take this gem, if it is destroyed I will come to its location" Wanting to ensure they were combat ready the party then spoke to Forstaff Gwenlyn of the Slayer's Take to pick up a contract. This led to an encounter with a rampaging Owl-bear that went smoothly and increased their reputation with the mercenary guild. Satisfied with their victory, the group set off for the shifting woods, although they were delayed briefly due to an old and somewhat bitter acquaintance. A farmer who's cart the party now used for transport (and whose pig Greg may or may not have roasted in a battle with a troll) demanded payment. The party agreed and the journey to the Shifting Woods began. The journey to the Woods passed without much incident, however the woods lived up to its name by seeming to move. Sometimes it was a few hours walk away, sometimes it looked like it would take an eternity to reach. Once they had finally made there way to the woods the party decided to camp for the night. On waking the party was ambushed by the Elven Druids and although Jacob was trampled they were victorious in driving off those on horseback. The final Druid, seeing he was outnumbered, took his own life. After the battle the party befriended several sprites known as SPRITE 1, SPRITE 2 and SPRITE 3 who showed them the way to the Feywild. Time seemed to work differently in the Feywilds. As the party went deeper, blink and the seasons would change. Closing in on the Gulfuras tree and the heart of the blight, the autumnal trees lost their colour, their shapes twisting into something more unnatural. After navigating a cavernous crossing complete with giant spider the adventurers came upon Benedict’s men. Inquisitor Lord Thrall was channeling a dark spell on the Gulfuras tree; Loremaster Ascadian the Archdruid was trapped in a magical prison in his celestial badger form. Making their plan carefully with the Sprites, the party attacked the High Inquisitors men a battle that included vanquishing several blights that were summoned, SPRITE 1’s demise and the death of Spymaster Brana at the hands of Corasrov Greytear. Before leaving the Feywilds with Ascadian rescued and the Gulfuras tree safe, The Wizard Greg hoovered up the souls of the slain. Back in the shifting woods, the party were thanked by Loremaster Ascadian who explained that they were part of a larger plan, a prophecy of sorts. In the shadow of the Dark Elf Corasrov, the Ranger Potato, the Paladin Ulrich and the Wizard Greg uses their various magic schools to attempt to open one of the three books of Knowledge. Suprisingly it was Potato that managed to bypass its puzzle and the party learned of the creation of world how the Elemental lords fought to create life and in doing so drew the attention of the Voids lords who sent their Old ones from beyond the stars to infect the planet. They learnt that of all the Old ones, Tychondrias is the most powerful and destructive; a true being of chaos. As a reward for their efforts Archdruid Ascadian allowed the party the opportunity to draw a leaf from one of the three branches of the Gulfuras tree; the branch of knowledge, the branch of power and the branch of seeking. He also offered the services of his Druids and several of the Fey creatures in the upcoming battle with Benedict. The party had thwarted Benedict’s plans yet again and their army began to take shape...
